THE MASTER’S TWELVE
We’ve all seen the “Stained Glass Disciples," enshrined in permanent perfection in thousands of sanctuaries all over the world. They are bigger than life, much better than us, somehow higher and holier, far greater and grander, the epitome of spiritual perfection. After all, they literally walked and talked with Jesus Himself! If we didn’t have the four gospel accounts in the New Testament to tell us differently, we would assume that they were some kind of spiritual superheroes.
And yet, the pages of the Gospels reveal disciples who were very much like us, in every way. They are real and raw, and that’s why we can identify with them. Not one of them was an accomplished scholar, an exceptional orator, a brilliant intellectual, or a distinguished theologian; in fact, they were outsiders as far as the political and religious world of Jesus’ day was concerned. They were far from outstanding; they were ORDINARY. They were prone to mistakes and misunderstandings. They were susceptible to bad days and bad attitudes. They all too often showed poor judgment and pathetic self-centeredness. Yes, they were just like us, and just like other believers that we know.
And yet, as ordinary as they were, these men left an indelible impact on the world, and they still continue to influence us more than 2000 years later. The message is clear – if God could use them to turn their world upside down (Acts 17:6), He can use you and me to do the same! Join us for this unique 8-part Bible Study, as we examine both the ministries and the mistakes of “The Master’s Twelve.” Your walk with the Lord will be enriched as you walk in their footsteps.
